This weekend for our last excursion we visited the beautiful old city of Toledo in the Castilla la Mancha region, just south of Madrid. We took a brief tour of the city and learned about some of Toledo’s history, then we had free time to explore the hilly, narrow streets of the ancient city ourselves. We may have gotten lost a few times due to the fact you can’t tell where you are because of the zig-zagging narrow streets. After exploring, eating churros, zip lining, shopping, and crashing a wedding, we all met back at the hotel for a delicious meal of soup and ham. The next day was a bit more filled with activities as we visited the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo. Like many of the other cathedrals we’ve seen, the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo had high ceilings, tall arches, and beautiful stained glass. However, this cathedral is special because it is home to one of the most expensive artifacts in Spain, the tesero custodia. After that we continued exploring the city and a couple more sites, including a mosque and an old cave. Then we went to lunch before heading off to madrid for more adventures. Toledo was a fun excursion and a great place to visit on our last weekend in Spain!
